This is not a general Pig Lab, This lab is only open to staff of GCHHS. This includes students, agency staff and QAS members. Click here for the general registration to the pig lab






Why are we doing this?:

Charli has neuroblastoma and has already undertaken intensive chemotherapy,  major surgery, stem cell treatment, radiotherapy and now immunotherapy. All of this before he was 18 months old! The funds raised will be used by Charlie’s family to get him the USA for a vaccine to prevent relapse of his cancer. All profit including speaker fees from this workshop will be donated to Chasing Charlie’s Cure


About this workshop:

This unique and interactive workshop will focus on the critical procedures the are undertaking by Emergency and Critical Care Staff. Learn through doing and dissecting. During the workshop we will be working with harvested pig organs for a truly unique review of pathophysiology and procedures. Not just hearing, but actually seeing, touching, and performing procedures are the keys to really understanding.

Catering:

This Charity Event is not catered. Tea and Coffee is available all day.


Continuing Professional Development:

All participants receive a certificate of attendance with Continuing Professional Development points. Attending this course, participants will receive  7 CPD points.


Who should attend?

Emergency Nurses, Paramedics, Retrieval Staff, ICU nurses, Trauma Nurses, Theatre Nurses, Critical Care nurses, Nursing Students or anyone involved in the care of the critical care patient.


Refunds:

This not a normal Think Ask Learn Workshop. Entry to this event is via donation. If you are unable to attend, then a refund is not possible. You are very welcome to transfer your donation to another person that can attend on this day. The funds are not transferable to another workshop.


About the pigs

No animals were euthanised for this course. The organs are harvested as a result of routine meat production. These would normal have been discarded or been processed by the pet food industry.
